Language Arts

Students entering Eighth Grade for the fall of 2011 will use Accelerated Reader

to complete their summer reading enrichment.  The goal is to provide our students with the opportunity to practice and improve their core reading skills using the most innovative tools available.

for instructions on logging into Accelerated Reader, or select from the side menu under Site Instructions.

After each book is read, students will need to come to the IHM Computer Lab to take the online quiz.  This will take about 10 to 20 minutes.

Students will earn points based on their summer reading quiz results.

Students entering Eighth Grade should

earn 20 points.

In addition to the books read for Accelerated Reader points, all students entering Eighth Grade will need to read:

S.E. Hinton

A test will be given on this book in the beginning of the 1st trimester and will be assigned the first week of school. Additionally, as you read, answer the five questions on the discussion board. You will need the username and password that was inside your report card.
