The 2011-2012 Directory is out and in the hands of those who paid their HSA dues for the year. Feedback has been tremendously positive and we are so happy to be able to provide so much information at your finger-tips!

All corrections will be printed as an addendum and distributed to be added to the directory.
If you haven't joined the HSA yet, please send in your dues no later than Friday, September 30th.

IF SO, WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH THE MOTHER/SON EVENT!
The Mother/Son Event will be held at IHM on Friday, April 27th.
We’ll have a barbeque and engage in some
fun games and healthy competitions: moms vs sons; moms and boys in even grades vs moms and boys in odd grades; etc. We need a few moms who don’t have sons to help facilitate some of our events. Don’t worry, no experience necessary. We just want to give the moms who have boys an opportunity to fully enjoy the evening without having to volunteer, too. Will you please help???

Purple Tuesday was an incredible day here at IHM - one our children will never forget! I was honored to be named the NFL Super Parent and surprised to hear about the Ultimate Super Parent Contest. Now, I need your help to win. The parent who receives the most on-line votes in just one week will win a trip for her family to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii!

IHM WINS
THE NFL PLAY 60 CONTEST!
You may have noticed all the commercials and billboards promoting the NFL’s Play 60 program. It’s an effort to get kids to be physically active for at least 60 minutes a day and be more focused on health and nutrition. The NFL sponsored a contest for grade schools to show their team spirit with up to six photos and three required essays. On a September Purple Friday, we stood on letters that had been chalked on to the parking lot spelling out R-A-V-E-N-S and shot a bunch of photos from the roof. We also took a pledge to play 60 minutes every day. In addition, we said that we would earn the NFL’s money by doing, as a school, 10,000 sit-ups, push-ups, jumping jacks and squats.
The NFL has chosen 1 winner in each of the 32 NFL markets (that have a team), plus 2 more for markets without a team. IHM has been named the winner for the Baltimore! We will receive $10,000 from the NFL during a special presentation at school in the near future. We have embarked on a study on how to best spend the money to promote good health and nutrition at IHM. The kids have not been shy about offering suggestions and we love hearing them!
We’ll keep you posted on our progress. In the DOCUMENT LIBRARY section, you can read the 100 word essays we had to submit and check out the awesome pictures. The Ravens Facebook page posted our photo on October 5th. As of Oct. 23, there have been 138 comments posted and over 1000 people “like this”. Go IHM! Go Ravens!
